Headquartered in Center Sandwich, the Sandwich Fire Department provides primary fire and emergency medical services to the citizens of Sandwich. The Town of Sandwich contracts with Stewart's Ambulance for ambulance services.
Central Fire Station: 23 Wentworth Hill Road, Center Sandwich, NH 03227
The Fire Department has 14 active members. Any resident over 18 years of age can apply to join the SFD; while those 16 and older may join as cadets. We are always seeking new members; experience is preferred but not required!
The Fire Department has three Class A pumpers, a light rescue vehicle, two forestry vehicles, an ATV, and two boats to assist their efforts.
Online Fire Permits:
With a Fire Permit in hand a property owner, or their agent, may kindle an outdoor fire between 5pm and 9am. The fire must be completely extinguished by 9am. Legally burnable materials are listed on the Permit and are limited to untreated wood and brush up to 5 inches in diameter. No pressure treated lumber, no painted or stained dimensional lumber, no building debris or shingles.
You can obtain your brush Permit on-line line at www.nhfirepermit.com. An on-line Permit will cost you $5.50. Please print it out so you have a copy. Permits are also available at the Town Hall during regular business hours, at the Central Fire Station when someone is there. For seasonal campfire Permits please contact the Warden at (603) 387-7104 or (603) 284-6450.
Even with a Permit, don't burn if it is windy or dry. Use common sense and remember you are responsible for what happens once you light the match.
