Sandwich Parks and Recreation has a long standing tradition of serving the citizens of Sandwich and providing activities for all ages.  With youth sports, musical events, beaches, and several parks to be enjoyed Sandwich offers quite a lot for a small New England town.



HIRING LIFEGUARDS

We are now hiring for our summer season.  Application deadline is May 19.  Hand in completed applications to Sandwich Town Hall, or mail them to: PO Box 194 Center Sandwich, NH 03227. Please complete employment application and Lifeguard job description.

PROGRAMS (all necessary forms can be found in the links below)

KARATE  
Sensei Todd Watkins will lead classes in Kitsune Okinawan Karate. Ages: Kindergarten-Adult.
Wednesdays in the Sandwich Central School gymnasium. Our next session begins on 5/3.

Beginner 6:00-7:00pm
Family Class 7:00-8:00pm

$40.00/ full session course registration

$10.00/class drop-in rate
REGISTRATION: The Parks and Recreation Department must have a completed Parks and Recreation Medical Form, a Parks and Recreation Kitsune Karate Registration form, and an Okinawan Karate Registration form from all participants. see links at bottom of page)

PAYMENT: Cash or Check, please make checks payable to: Town of Sandwich.

DISTANCE RUNNING: Grades 4th – 6tH only.  This program will allow kids to participate in a healthy, non-competitive exercise program.  This program will take place on Quimby Field and the Sandwich Fairgrounds. This program will meet Monday and Fridays. This five-week program starts on May 8 and “runs” until June 9th.  Program ends at 3:45 each day, participants should be picked up at SCS at the end of each day.  Instructors: Justin Chapman, Diane Decker Booty, Ole Anderson.

YOUTH TENNIS: We have equipment players may borrow for lessons.  Tennis is a great life-long sport.  This program will teach players the fundamentals of tennis through a variety of instructional drills.  Players registered for our Spring Tennis Program will be met at Sandwich Elementary School and escorted to the courts at Quimby Field. EXCEPT for students in our 5th+6th grade group. -The 5th+6th group does not practice until 3:30pm on Tuesdays and will not be met at SCS or supervised by Sandwich Parks and Recreation between the end of the school day and the start of the lesson. Ole Anderson, will be the instructor for all groups.  Participants should be picked up at the Tennis courts at the end of their lesson.

           Tuesdays: May 2 – May 23                                                   Thursdays: May 4 – May 25

  • Kindergarten-- 12:05-12:45                                                     3rd + 4th ---------2:35-3:20
  • 1st + 2nd --------- 2:35-3:15
  • 5th + 6th --------- 3:30-4:15

YOUTH SOCCER:  This will be a four-week program. Spring Soccer is not a league.  We do not play other towns.  There is no travel, uniform, or fee.  This program will emphasize fun and play, the aim is to for kids to gain experience and have fun while playing soccer with their friends and classmates.  Players will be met after school and escorted to Quimby field.  Players will get ready at Quimby field.  YOUR CHILD MUST WEAR SHIN-GUARDS TO PARTICIPATE.

K –2ND GRADE: Thursdays - Introductory and instructional group using fun skill games and drills to learn about, and play, the game of soccer.  This group will practice after school on Thursdays.  Coach: Leo Greene. First Day is May 11, Last Day is June 1.  Soccer ends at 3:45pm.

3RD – 6th GRADE: Wednesdays -  This group will play with emphasis on fun, sportsmanship, and teamwork.  Players will expand their soccer abilities through scrimmages and drills.  This group will play on Wednesdays. Coach: Ole Anderson.  First day is May 10, Last Day is May 31 Soccer ends at 4:00pm.

Tee Ball:This program is for children currently in First Grade, Kindergarten, and children who will be five (5) years old before January 1, 2018.  T-ball is a precursor to baseball. This program will introduce kids to the game and help them learn the fundamentals of the sport of baseball.  This fun and safe program will rely on parent volunteers and assistants.  Sandwich Parks and Recreation Director Ole Anderson will lead each session, but parents are strongly encouraged to assist with the program. You do not need to commit to all four weeks, assistance on any day is greatly appreciated.

 

This four-week program begins Saturday, May 6. T-Ball will be from 9:30-10:30am on Saturday Mornings. T-Ball Dates: 5/6, 5/13, 5/20, 6/3 There will be no T-Ball on Memorial Day weekend.
Registration Deadline:  Wednesday, May 3.

Completed Registration Forms can be turned into SCS, The Sandwich Children’s Center, The Parks and Recreation office, or Town Hall (Selectman’s office).

  • Your child will need her/his own mitt. 
  • We recommend a hat and loose fitting athletic clothing.
  • We will provide bats, balls, and the batting tee.
